♪ ♪ admitted terrorist sentenced to prison. the 35 year-old sentence was handed down today to david headley who pleaded guilty to scouting places to be attacked. inflation led to charges against several terrorist fears.

and survivor that was shot in the back during a rampage testified about her experience. three children were injured after a fire broke out inside their apartment. one of the children was left to babysit her siblings. she put out the fire by placing her burning for year-old sister in the bathtub. three children were at home at the time. the 16 year-old was doing her homework in her bedroom as the other two were playing in their room. a 10 year-old soon ran to her to tell her there was a fire coming from the bunk beds. the older girl picked up for younger sister and putter in the bathtub. she ran water on her. the little girl suffered critical injuries. all three kids were taken to the

children's hospital. the teenagers hands were badly burned from lifting her sister. the grandmother says she thinks the boys started the fire by accident. >> my granddaughter put the fire out. some of the family is here now as a little girl remains. reporting from the children's hospital at the university of chicago.

firefighters are back on the scene of a warehouse fire from earlier this week. after flames rekindled this morning. flames and smoke shot out of the abandoned building at 37th and ashland in the bridgeport neighborhood. the fire first broke out tuesday night. nearly 2-hundred firefighters spent hours pouring water on the building to extinguish hotspots. creating an icey facade. today crews are getting some help from a vintage fire truck from the 19-60's. nicknamed "big mo." the truck can shoot up to 3- thousand gallons of water a minute and supply 10-water lines at once. firefighters say it could take days to put out the fire. a 59-year old woman was found dead inside a burning home in jefferson park this morning. firefighters were called to the home in the 50-hundred block of north mobile avenue just before six a-m. officials say the home did not have a working smoke detector. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. next a man convicted in the 2008 terror attacks in mumbai is in court for his sentencing. and north korea is threatening to launch its next nuclear missile test at the united states.

will conduct a nuclear test and more rocket launches that target the u-s and calls america its "sworn enemy". the north's declaration comes a day after the united nations security council supported a resolution to censure and sanction the country for carrying-out a rocket launch in december. the obama administration sponsored the measure. north korea is not believed to have the technology to deliver a nuclear warhead that's capable of slamming into the u-s. but, its launch last month showed it has the ability to deliver a rocket that could come close to california. has the backing of president obama. assault weapons are not necessary for the average american to own. >> weapons designed originally for the military to kill large numbers of people in close combat. they are replicated for civilian use. in a month after a new town conn where 26 innocent lives were lost to this

suspensions have been handed down to the boys basketball coaches at simeon and morgan park high schools for their conduct during a fight between the two teams. the fight broke out after their game last week at chicago state

and ended with a shooting in the parking lot that killed a student. simeon coach robert smith and morgan park coach nick irvin continued to yell at each other after the teams were ordered back to their locker rooms. mayor emanuel supports the coaches' four-game suspensions saying all adults at sporting events have a role to play. >> that includes the referees, the parents and it also includes the coaches. players look to you. kids going to the school as well as going to the games look to you. michael mcnabb and stephen gilbert are charged in the shooting death of tyrone lawson, who was shot in the chicago state parking lot after that game. the district 207 school board holds a special meeting tonight. where they could take further disciplinary action in the maine west hazing case. a civil suit has been filed on behalf of four alleged hazing victims on the boys soccer team and subpoenas have been issued in an ongoing investigation by the cook county state's

attorney's office. among those named in the civil suit are varsity soccer coach and former freshman baseball coach michael divincenzo, who's suspended without pay and freshman soccer coach emilio rodriguez, who's on paid leave. chicago's inspector general says the police department should hire more civilians for the inspector general says hiring civilians would free up 300 police officers for patrol duties. the police department says the report has a limited view of the function of police officers. the mayor's office says it will seriously consider the report. voted to raise tuition 1.7%. students at the campus will melt a little less than $25,000 per year. the amount will be locked in for four years. the lowest increases in 18 years. ♪ you know
